At Smiling Moon Guitars, I do anything from basic setups to major restorations on new and vintage instruments.
Nut and saddle replacement. Fret leveling and dressing. Complete fret jobs. Structural repairs, such as loose braces or cracks. Neck resets. Electronics repair, modifications and upgrades. Complete pickup installations in acoustic instruments. Machined parts, custom or obsolete. Custom builds upon request.
The picture above is 1932 Gibson L-00. I am gluing a loose brace. This guitar needed a total restoration.
This is a custom milling machine designed and built by me. I use this machine to do custom modifications and also manufacture parts and fixtures. As you can see in the pictures, I can perform about any modification or repair needed. I have a new addition to the shop. A metal cutting lathe. With this I can machine obsolete parts such as bridge and tailpiece inserts for vintage electric guitars.

Kevin is the only one I trust with my instruments. He keeps all my guitars in full rocking order. He recently installed the new Fishman Matrix pickup system in my Gibson J-100. It's like turbo for the acoustic. Scott Sutton, Musician, Roanoke VA
Kevin did an amazing job repairing a crack on the top of my 1969 Guild D-35. Honest, trustworthy and a fine craftsman. Tony Prior, Musician, Charlotte NC
Nobody, I mean nobody is allowed to work on my guitars except Kevin Marshall @ Smiling Moon Guitars. He is the best! Chuck "The CharleyHorse" Johnson, Singer/Songwriter, Charlotte NC
Once in a great while you find a craftsman who cares as much about his craft as you care about your art . Kevin @ Smiling Moon Guitars is that craftsman. Thank You, Kevin Phillip Carias, Musician, Charlotte NC
